Re: Hull v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
you think we set up to play downing as deep and centrally as noble?

it was moe like 4-2-3-1 with sakho the furthest forward to start with, but with all four forward players alternating, just without zarate or downing ever ending up front on their own.

I can't stand him either but I think he's only saying we need to tighten up defensively but in his usual foot-in-mouth brash way. Swashbuckling football is great to watch but we'd all be pissed off if we got relegated because our left and right backs were in the opposition's eighteen yard box as a striker tapped it past Adrian from three feet out.

I thought he was the right man to grab the club by the neck when we got relegated, mainly enjoyed the Championship (especially going away) and my opinion of him has fallen steadily ever since to the point where I just wanted him sacked.

IF he can tighten up the defence but continue to play entertaining football like a few managers of smaller clubs around us seem to have no trouble doing perhaps, perhaps some of us might get onside again. It'd be a new experience on WHO to see someone change their trenchant opinion EVER, but we'll see.

Re: Hull v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
I think the formation that we was set up initially to play was:

----------------Adrian--
-Demel--Tomkins--Reid--Cresswell-
-----------------Kouyate--
-----------Noble ----Downing---
----------------Zarate---
-------------Sakho--Valencia--

But I think it played out more like:

--------------Adrian
-Demel--Tomkins--Reid--Cresswell-
---------Kouyate----Noble---------
---------------Downing----------
-Sakho------------------------Zarate
--------------Valencia----------

With Downing given sort of a free role which was surprising. He was switching with Zarate/Sakho at times as one minute he was coming through the middle, next on the wing where sakho was etc.

Last night reminded me in many ways of the Spurs 3-0 last season in that the front players were continously switching around.

I just don't see the point in adding negativity after a decent 2nd half display which most of us enjoyed. He's got zero media savvy.

"Attractive football and not winning is no good to me, no good to the owners and no good to the supporters.''

Well, he's basically right, isn't he? Unless you choose to take it out of context, as you have done.

Correct. Play like that and we will win more than we will lose, or at least more than we did last season anyway.

Re: Hull v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
I was reading one report that speculates that Song will be the holding (sitting) midfielder we so desperately need. He will be the best of our signings despite the obvious excitment we get over the strikers. Over the season, if he can remain fit in that holding role it should help us look a lot less vulnerable and open in that area just ahead of teh back four. Last night we were giving far too much space to Hull there and Song when fit will hopefully patrol in there to provide more of a shield to Reid and Tomkins.

And so the fat cowardly fuck ruins last night's optimism yet again.

"“Attractive football and not winning is no good to me, no good to the owners and no good to the supporters.”

How about saying "If we carry on playing the football as witnessed last night, the results will soon come"?

But no, any glimpse of positive change and the slob stamps it out. I fucking hate him.

What was our formation if Downing played in central midfield.?
4-3-1-2?

Re: Hull v West Ham - Official Match Thread 2-2 FT
vast improvement imo, I'm not happy about a draw at Hull on the basis we never conceded the goals due to the new formation
we conceded the 2nd goal because our left back was fucking stupid.... I think the first goal was just a bloody good strike and it happens, so take out cresswell's daft error and it was 3 deserved points

Just goes to show how turgid our football had become that we are creaming ourselves over a 2--2 draw to.....hull.
